Empty grain rolls over the lesser used route in Washington. At least the limited trains come with stunning scenery, thanks to millions of years of flowing water.

The train takes a big, sharp turn in tune with the Yakima River.

Eastern Washington basalt jets upward and the Yakima River digs downward. 4 cars in latter half of the grainer are visible just around the river bend. A very lucky catch on my way back to Pullman.... (more)
